Automatic Chat Reader

Automatically read your Twitch chat aloud using Text-To-Speech (TTS) by adding a Browser Source in OBS Studio. Customize voices per viewer role, set filters, and control playback.
Home Features Automatic Chat Reader

Automatic Chat Reader is a PotatoHotDog feature that reads your Twitch chat messages aloud in real time using AI Text-To-Speech (TTS) voices. Instead of reading chat yourself, the tool speaks every message for you - perfect for streamers who want to stay engaged with their audience without taking their eyes off the game.

It works by adding a Browser Source in OBS Studio. Once set up, any message posted in your Twitch chat is automatically converted to speech and played through your stream audio.

How It Works

Setting up the Automatic Chat Reader takes just a few steps:

  • Create an Automatic Chat Reader Browser Source on your PotatoHotDog dashboard.
  • Copy the generated Browser Source URL.
  • Add it as a Browser Source in OBS Studio.
  • Twitch chat messages will now be read aloud automatically using the voices you configure.

Customization Options

The Automatic Chat Reader offers a wide range of settings so you can tailor it exactly to your stream:

  • Voices per viewer role - assign different AI voices to Broadcaster, Moderators, VIPs, Subscribers, Prime Subscribers, Bit Cheerers, Founders, and regular viewers.
  • Playback mode - choose between playing messages one at a time or overlapping them in parallel.
  • Volume and speed - adjust how loud and how fast the TTS voice speaks.
  • Chat Trigger Prefix - only read messages that start with a specific prefix, such as !tts.
  • Chat Ignore Prefix - skip messages that start with a certain prefix, for example to block bot commands.
  • Blocked words - provide a list of words that will cause a message to be silently skipped.
  • Blacklisted and whitelisted users - control exactly which viewers are read aloud.
  • Message template - customize how the spoken message is formatted, for example by including the viewer's name before their message.
  • Include emotes - choose whether Twitch emote names are spoken aloud or silently skipped.
